It’s worth $1,000 and not restricted to specific colleges and universities.

If you are left-handed, then you could coast all the way through college. The Frederick and Mary F. Beckley “Left-Handed” Scholarship is dedicated to deserving sophomores, juniors or seniors attending Juniata College. Aside from the proof of financial need, you also need to demonstrate that you are indeed, left-handed.

Business Schools: Grants and Scholarships

Many business schools offer students a variety of scholarships, grants or so-called teaching assistantship, especially for those who work as assistant teachers. Funds for grants are received from a school budget to support best students. A school awards grants based on a student’s merits (merit-based) or, depending on his financial position (need-based), taking into account information on financial position an applicant describes in a registration form.

You can get complete information on this issue at financial assistance department, which defines whether you can expect to receive scholarship, grant or any other payments. Grants for MBA students are paid from several sources: from a business school’s budget, federal or state budget, corporations and alumni associations also frequently act as co-sponsors.

In fact, grants are divided into three categories: merit-based scholarship – grants, payment of which takes into account past academic performance (study in college), GMAT scores, and (or) the entire set of documents; need-based scholarship – grants to needy students that require a proof you are experiencing financial difficulties; affirmative action scholarship – grants paid to students from a so-called protected social group, namely women and (or) national or religious minorities. In some cases, in order to receive a grant, you must complete and submit an appropriate form together with a set of documents.

However, some schools offer students the right to obtain a grant at the time of enrollment.

Paid grants and criteria for selecting students are totally dependent on a training program. For example, Weatherhead business school offers distribution of merit-based grants determined by GMAT and GPA scores. Emory business school offers special scholarship named after James & Lynn Platt in the amount of $ 5,000. It is paid both to needy and well-performing students. Anderson School first-year students receive scholarships on the basis of a set of documents. Extension of scholarship for the second year depends on estimates obtained in the first year, and students’ contributions in university life.

All students, including foreign ones may be eligible for a merit-based grant. Schools will also provide grants to students who cannot pay the full study. In this case, selection committee draws attention to a student’s nationality, ethnicity and gender. Almost all business schools provide grants to national minorities, and some schools offer students an opportunity to receive teaching assistantship. These benefits range from 1500 $ US until full cost recovery for education.

Do not hesitate to use all opportunities provided to you. Prestigious business schools tend to spend big money to attract best students. For example, in New York University 20 students receive grants and full refund of tuition. About 36% of students enrolled at NYU in fall 2000, received a fellowship. The amount ranged from 5 000 $ US until full reimbursement of tuition fees. Similar programs operate in many schools.

Hispanic Scholarships For Women – Grants and Programs For Hispanic Women

Since 2001, the Hispanic population in the United States have gone past the African-American population, making them the new largest minority population in the country. On a 2006 census, there are about 100 million Hispanic-Americans in the country, or 15% of the entire population of the United States. Despite their number and their contribution to the local labor force; however, most Hispanics still end up with low paying, labor-intensive jobs. These jobs may not always be rewarding and their salary do not always cover their daily expenses; and as immigrants and non-American citizens, they may not always receive the right benefits compared to American citizens.

Hispanic women who have immigrated to the United States often find it difficult to build a comfortable environment for their families due to poverty and financial obstacles. Furthermore, those who were unable to undergo college education will less likely land a job that pays higher than most careers. This is what makes higher education a solution to their financial problems. Taking up courses under specialized fields could open them to opportunities that are less likely enjoyed by other Hispanic families or individuals belonging to the minority.

Due to the realities faced by Hispanic-Americans today, public and private offices are paying it forward by sponsoring various scholarships to assist Hispanics in the country. More institutions are offering Hispanic Scholarships for women as well as men. From undergraduate scholarships to graduate scholarships, achieving higher education now is possible, thanks to grants, scholarships, and similar forms of assistance.

Within the United States, there are certain associations that provide Hispanic women assistance and career opportunities. Below are five of the most reputable Latin/Hispanic organizations in the United States that provide Hispanic women with financial and moral support:

Stanford Society of Chicano– The Stanford Society of Chicano provides scholarships and grants to both Hispanic men and women. Although various courses are supported by their programs, the society encourages Hispanic women to specialize in fields where there are more men. The Hispanic Heritage Foundation– The foundation does not only provide Hispanic scholarships for women and men, but they also assist graduates into finding white-collar jobs. The Hispanic Women’s Corporation– As the name suggests, The Hispanic Women’s Corporation supports women’s rights and empower Hispanic women in the community. They also provide Hispanic scholarships for women only. They award fifty (50) scholars every year, wherein the awards range from $300 to $10, 000 every year. The Rising Farmworker Dream Fund– This MBA scholarship is usually offered to the children of Hispanic farm laborers or farmers. The total amount of the award ranges between $2, 500 to $5, 000. It also provides scholars access to various careers upon graduation. Hispanic Scholarship Fund– The Hispanic Scholarship Fund is awarded to all students in all levels. The award ranges between $1, 000 to $10, 000. Currently, it is one of the best options for Hispanic scholars and students.

Scholarships for women not only inspire and empower Hispanics and those belonging to the minority to pursue higher education, they also help in forming individuals who will be able to function well in the community. More importantly, these scholarship programs give hope to those who are cannot afford to send themselves to a good college or to advance further in their chosen careers.

Single Parents Pursuing Higher Education Should Seek Out Scholarships And Grants

Some of the people who might benefit the most from a college or university degree are probably also those who believe they are the least likely to have the time, money or energy for it. There are, however, online degree programs – and scholarships that can be applied to them – that might make a college or university degree more of a reality for single parents.

Single parents aren’t alone in their struggle to make ends meet. There are many people these days who find it difficult to survive only on one income; however, there are single parents who struggle to find the time to work in the first place and, when they do, they then have to share that income with a child who needs balanced meals, vitamins and doctor and dental care. These individuals might find scholarships based on financial needs especially suited to their situations.

Grants, like scholarships, also are provided based on financial needs – particularly when they’re offered by government agencies. The federal Pell Grant, one of the best known government grants, is designed for students with extreme financial needs, and some single parents might be among them. To obtain government grants and scholarships, students typically first complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is available online.

Large corporations, professional associations, non-profit foundations and civic and community groups also make scholarships available to those with financial needs. Online college and university courses and online degree programs are offered in a variety of subjects for those interested in applying their scholarships to flexible programs of study. With Internet access, students participating in online courses and online degree programs obtain coursework and file assignments remotely.

Coursework and assignments in online college and university classes are provided in audio, video and text format, and students are able to interact via message boards and other technological offerings. Parents in online courses and online degree programs are able to schedule studies for when they’re not working and when the children are asleep or participating in extracurricular activities. Paying for these college and university pursuits with scholarships helps to make higher education more affordable for these parents, leaving them with less debt to repay after graduation.

Information from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that earnings and job security tend to increase with the level of an individual’s education. With that in mind, parents without a college or university degree might find themselves better able to support themselves and their children in instances where they obtain a college or university degree – and especially in instances where they obtain those degrees with help from scholarships or grants.

In addition to speaking with financial aid advisers and department heads at colleges and universities that interest them, single parents might turn to online resources in their search for scholarship assistance. There are websites that deal with just scholarships that can be accessed through the many recognized search engines. The US Departments of Labor and Education and the non-profit College Board also offer online opportunities to search for scholarships.
