When starting an online business learning how to use the internet can be very confusing at the beginning. Where to start and exactly what to do can be straight forward once you know how but it can also be very confusing to begin with. Here are the four main options for learning that are usually chosen by people. See which category might suit your own personal needs the best.
1/. Just pick it up as you go along.
The For. If you are the sort of person that likes a challenge then maybe this way is for you, there can be a real sense of achievement each time that you ‘get it right’ plus of course the feeling of success when you can honestly say that you are satisfied that you have mastered how to use the site enough to meet your requirements.
The Against. There is no one to ask questions to and often a feeling of isolation and loneliness, plus quite often a sense of utter confusion.
2/. Just get a Book and Watch YouTube Videos.
The For. This is a very popular method. It can be done at any time that you may choose to do it and also just about anywhere that you may find convenient, both books and YouTube videos are very good for reference purposes and they can offer some excellent tips and advice.
The Against. Nearly any book that you might get will almost certainly be out of date. Many books are before they are even published. Some of these books can be quite expensive and they are virtually worthless before you have even finished reading them. As regards YouTube you can get some good tips for YouTube but be very wary of trying some of them out on your computer (unless you are already a computer expert) watching an expert show you what to do when you go into your computer registry can be very hazardous to your computers health, especially when the expert is a ten year old kid.
3/. Get a Guru or Mentor on each subject.
The For. To get a good teacher on any topic is always good even if only to get the general feeling of how that particular site operates and just a general overview of the good and bad points on that particular website. This can be an excellent stepping stone in helping you to decide whether or not you to wish to continue using that particular site.
The Against. Many of the ready-made tutorials are well out of date (by that I mean 6 months or more) most tutorial are on just one topic, something like WordPress, Twitter or something like that (which is not really such a bad thing?) Quite often these ‘taster’ courses are the build up for a larger and more comprehensive course, which again is not so bad if you really just want to be an absolute expert in maybe just one topic (such as WordPress) as many do.
4/. Join an Online Purpose made Site.
The For. These sites have been created for the sole purpose of teaching people Online Internet skills. They usually have very well made video tutorials and jpg pages that you can download should you want printed material. One of the main benefits is that you can login in and watch the tutorials as many times as you want, and whenever you want to (some topics need to watched quite a few times before the you actually ‘get it’), plus of course you can stop the videos as you go along if you want to. There is also usually a forum on these sites where you can both receive help and also give help if you want to. Plus you can leave whenever you want to, and there is usually an initial trial/taster period to see whether you like it or not
The Against. To be a member you’ve got to pay, usually monthly,, you may decide of course that it’s not for you.
