Government Grants For Assisted Living For Seniors

As the country is dealing with harsh times, it’s becoming harder for the elders of our society to find homes that have the ability to take care of them. Not only are many assisted living facilities deteriorating in their standards of comfort and care, the seniors who need to live in these homes are finding it harder to pay for their high costs. Fortunately there are government grants for assisted living for seniors that are intended to counteract these hardships.

The quality of a senior center and care facility is incredibly important since so many people are relying on the services they provide. The standards a person should expect to find in an assisted living facility include, but are not limited to, properly trained nurses and aids, clean rooms, healthy food, and well kept living spaces. Sadly there are many of these facilities that are not up to par since they can’t afford to hire a good staff or keep up with repairs. Many government grants are available to these facilities to help them improve on their business and make their facility a better place for the people who live there.

Another problem people notice when it comes to assisted living for seniors is that there just aren’t enough places that provide it. Some areas don’t even have any kind of senior citizen home and families are forced to send their loved ones out of town just to get the care they need. The government has created grants to meet this problem too. There are grants at the ready for people and organizations willing to take old or unused buildings and turn them into a brand new facility.

For those people that can’t afford to live in assisted living facilities, grants are available to help with costs. Please check government websites for more information.

Government Assistance For Single Mothers – Grants, Housing, Living Expenses and Medical Care

A single mother is tasked with the responsibility of performing the role of mother in addition to the father role. Fortunately there is government assistance for single mothers through various programs available.

A single parent has a harder task than any two parent family. Most of the single parent head of households are females. Many single mothers have not had the opportunity to get a good education nor sufficient housing.

Food and funds are often insufficient and the single woman, in many cases cannot afford child care nor can she afford a home. Consequentially, she requires assistance in order to for basic provisions for her children.

There is a government program called WIC which is designed for single women or qualified parents with children five and under. Food such as milk, cereal, cheese, juice, beans, peanut butter and eggs are the main foods that are provided.

Each month the qualified parent or parents are given vouchers which are to be use at any time before the expiration date. The above listed foods are all rich in vitamins and nutrients necessary good health. This program is offered by the Department of Children and Families.

Another program offered by the Department of Children and Families is called TANIF. This two parents or single mother government assistance program offers temporary financial assistance for needy families. Monetary funds are provided to qualified families. The parent or parents must meet all of the income and need criterion.

Grants and housing vouchers are also part of a single mother government assistance program. The housing authority will house a single mother and her family for a fraction of the cost of basic apartment.

Food stamps are also provided for a single mother. Over ten years ago food stamps came in the form of paper vouchers. Now single mothers use a card similar to a credit card to make all of her purchases. Each month, depending on a single mother’s situation and income, she is awarded a specific dollar amount of food stamps.

For medical assistance, there is Medicaid or various other healthy kid programs. Children can receive medical care at not cost if they qualify. Depending on the single mother’s income, a small co-payment may be charged. Every state has similar rules and regulations that apply to single mother support programs. For more information on single mother government assistance, visit your local Department of Children and Families.

Funding Your Quilting Business

Starting a business can be a daunting task, especially when you consider that the average startup costs are anywhere from $5,000 to $20,000. Even at the low end, that’s not an insignificant amount of money. The good news is that hardly anybody starts their business out-of-pocket, unless of course they have that kind of disposable income. But for the rest of us, there are several options available.

A traditional loan from a bank would be a desirable avenue, but unfortunately many banks and credit unions are hesitant to finance home businesses under $100,000. Unless your business costs are legitimately this high, and you are able to pay back a loan of that magnitude, other funding must be determined.

A great place to start for any small business is http://www.sba.gov. The SBA is the Small Business Administration, and their website is a wealth of information regarding starting, funding and managing your business. Various loans and programs are available that are more tailored to a small business, as opposed to the banks which typically fund larger business ventures.

There are also various community funds. These are local groups that offer small amounts of money, usually under $1000, on a loan basis. They often require you to become a member of their organization, but they are a great way to get that last little bit of funding.

Another conceivable option is financing your business through a grant. While popular discourse would have you believe anybody can fund his/her venture through a grant, this may be a bit misleading. The truth is that the majority of business grants are available for strictly non-profit companies. However, there are some grants available for profit yielding businesses. A good resource for these types of grants is http://www.businessownersideacafe.com. However, remember that grants are often very competitive. You may be evaluated based upon a well thought out and presented business plan, and there may be upwards of tens of thousands of people applying for the same grant.

The last option is appealing to venture capital groups. As with banks, they are generally only interested in multi-million dollar businesses. Occasionally though, they will be willing to fund a small business. Known as “angel” investors, they often require frequent business reports or demand a high percentage of profits.

By whatever means you choose to finance your business, make sure it’s a good fit for your company. And don’t resort to out-of-pocket expenses unless you have to. There’s plenty of money out there for you and your business. You just have to put in the time to find it.

Grants For Single Parents

Posted by admin on January 30, 2011 at 10:30 pm in Home And Family

Finding government funds for single parents can sometimes prove to be an onerous task.

The proliferation of single parents is on the increase around the world. Raising a child or children alone often proves to be a difficult job. This is the reason that being a single parent involves taking on a lot more responsibility and takes a special person to be able to make do. The personality of the successful lone parent will often be courageous and stubborn. These qualities will be needed and tested in the process of seeking to better your child’s life. One must have the courage to ask for assistance despite pride and the stubbornness to persist until that better life is realized.

Financial aid is provided by the government to any parent who can prove that they need the assistance in order to raise their child. The reason there are government grants for sole guardians is that the law accepts that raising a child without a 2nd income can be an extremely difficult proposition. In order to help out the guardian, grants are sometimes provided to help ease the pressures that are faced financially. This is not as much a charity as an acceptance that two incomes are often required to maintain a healthy lifestyle for children.

Government funding is accessible to the general public, especially needy single parents. To begin the process of applying for aid, he or she needs to obtain the forms from City Hall. The forms should be candidly and clearly completed because the information will need to be verified and will form the basis for the decision. Remember, you’re dealing with the government, so all t’s must be crossed and all i’s must be dotted. Be advised that while financial aid is available and open to every person in the land, qualifications do exist and are set to protect the funds from fraud.

Note that financial assistance will not be given to those whose salaries are large and more than enough to comfortably and even luxuriously support the child or children. The government alone decides what constitutes “need”. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that things being difficult automatically makes your case for such need.

Remember, the pool of funds is finite.

While Government aid may be offered to the single parent, it is important to maintain your priorities. The parent must always understand that any grant provided will help out on the budget front, but the most crucial part of raising a child is the emotional support. The ability to care for your child through all the hard knocks and issues in their lives will ALWAYS be more important than the latest pair of Nike’s.
