Small Business Startup Grants

Posted by admin on January 31, 2011 at 11:37 pm in Business

Assisting you in establishing your own business is not the sole reason why private institutions and government agencies offer small business startup grants. If these institutions show an interest in your project then only will they give you the grant. Simply having a good idea will not automatically mean that you will be given the grant.

o Most funding institutions provide grants mostly for “project” context, consistent with their organization’s objectives and goals.

Conditions relating to income or credit

Usually you don’t have to pay back the government grants. Some States require no qualifications for receiving the grant but this is not always the case. You may not have to be qualified the same way that people applying for loan (national as well as private) have to qualify but there is a process for requirement, which you have to pass through in order to get the grant.

o The myth of “free money” granted for starting or expanding a small business needs to be shattered. They do not provide grants to individuals who might use the money to start only a profitable small business of their own.

Now you must be wondering about the qualifications that a person should possess in order to get small business startup grants from the government. The main thing you have to prove is, the business idea that you have in mind is feasible. In order to prove that your plan is feasible, you must show that you are trustworthy, which indirectly means that your credit score must be good.

o independently owned and operated;
o not dominant in its field;
o or employs 500 full-time people or less

To present a feasible business plan

Before you go and apply for a government grant, you will have to make a good presentation of the project, which you want to undertake. So you will have to put your idea in to a proper presentation. You should do some research along with the study of market in order to show that your business proposal is feasible and that it can earn sufficient amount of money.

o You submit a business loan application to the small business lender for initial review. If the lender approves of your plan, a copy of the business loan application and a credit analysis are forwarded to the Small Business Administration.

Although you do not have to pay back the money to the government but the institution would like to invest in those businesses that have the ability to survive with time. These businesses should have the capability to generate work and increase the income of the country, which in turn will add to the country’s wellbeing. In order to know the necessities required for obtaining small business startup grants, you will have to talk to the government agency that offers such grants.

Sanction of government grant

If you want to obtain small business startup grants then you will have to show the agency that your project is good and feasible. Moreover, the business proposal should be of that category that the government supports and promotes. You won’t be able to do anything if you are not eligible for the government grant.

o Such are only available to support non-profit organizations, lending institutions, and state and local government programs that provide technical and financial assistance to small businesses.

o Grant opportunities may exist for small businesses engaged in very specialized activities. Many organizations provide job training grants to new and expanding firms.

So many people want to establish their own business but they are unable to because they don’t know how they will get the money for it. It is not the end of the world if you cannot fulfill the requirements required for obtaining small business startup grants.

o Ineligible projects include land acquisitions, and projects whose primary purpose would be to increase production.
o A small business does not receive more than one loan in a three year period

There are government business loans, which you can apply for. The interest charged on these loans is usually low you can pay them back easily.

If you’re looking to make a profit in your small business, then you might have trouble finding free government grants. Most government cash is reserved for non-profit organizations or businesses that can provide new jobs to disadvantaged workers in locations that need development.

On the other hand, if your business is about developing new technology, you might have a good chance at finding free government grants. The government often uses grant programs to support the development of ideas and production of new technologies.

Murphy’s Law of Grant Writing dictates that you’ll usually find the perfect free government grant one day after the proposal deadline. When it comes to grant proposals, don’t count on using a note from the doctor. You’ll just have to wait until the next grant cycle.

If you don’t qualify for free government grants, you may qualify for cheap government loans. But there are stout application rules for these too, and the money has to be spent for the reasons you stated when you borrowed it.

Free government grants are more than a mirage in the desert. But they’re not quite the Pacific Ocean over the next hill either. Theoretically, that would make free government grants the oasis, an small zone of plenty that savvy desert travelers can find with ease. With good research, a clear vision of what you want to accomplish, and a little luck, you may find that free government grants are available for your small business or to fund your development of a new idea.

Starting a Cleaning Business – Preparing a Business Plan

While not essential, a business plan can be extremely useful to entrepreneurs going into their own small cleaning business. Even if you don’t require a plan to convince partners, investors or banks that your idea is solid, a plan will help you to confirm this in your own mind and give you a central place to compile your research and answer your questions. Most importantly, a business plan will be a blueprint for your success and allow you to grow in the right direction and to meet the ambitious goals that you set for yourself. The following sets out the main components of a good plan.

1) Summary – The basic idea behind your business, details on the local cleaning industry, details on your personal background and a summary of your plan.

2) Company Mission – Set out the philosophy, values and standards that you want your company to live up to.

3) Basic Company Details – Set out a proposed company location and name.

4) Goals – Set out the objectives that you have in the short, medium and long term.

5) Start-up Requirements – set out a detailed list of start-up expenses and details of where the necessary funding will come from.

6) Ownership – who are the people who will have an ownership stake in the new cleaning business?

7) Legal Structure – will you incorporate into a limited liability company right away or start off as a sole-proprietor or a partnership.

8) Services – List out the cleaning services that you will offer to clients.

9) Market Analysis – Report on local demograhics and your research into what local competitors are doing. State why you think opportunities exist within the market and how you can go about catering to them in a way that is different from all the other cleaners.

10) Marketing Strategy – plan for the development of your brand, consider how you will package your services to offer maximum value, propose a pricing strategy and examine advertising and marketing opportunities.

11) Management Structure – Set out a management hierarchy so that owners and investors understand exactly who is responsible for decision making.

12) Financial Analysis – Estimate operating revenues and costs and set them out in spreadsheets over a hypothetical time period of several years. You will then be able to estimate profits and identify a breakeven point. You can also make spreadsheets for several different outcomes, both optimistic and pessimistic in order to understand the best and worst case scenarios.

A business plan will help you to be organized and to stay focused on your long term goals. Start your cleaning business off right with a great business plan.

Online University Degrees Aided by Pell Grants

Individuals returning to school to complete their university degrees may be pleased to hear that an increased number of college grants will be available to help out with funding. With the price of education inching higher and higher each year, paying for school can cause a great amount of stress for some individuals. However, a new government bill aims to help students obtain college grants, while helping with loan repayments in order to encourage more people to return to school.

The Boston Globe recently reported that financial aid opportunities, such as the Pell grant program, will be receiving a welcome amount of funding over the next few years. This is thanks to a recent bill giving the go-ahead to an overhaul of the entire student financial aid system, which was signed recently by President Obama.

BusinessWeek reveals that the new plan – part of the health care bill – will save a total of $68 billion over a 10-year period. The money will go to reduce interest rates on student loans and allow borrowers to pay back their loans over a longer period of time. The money will also go to government-sponsored college grants, such as Pell grants. These grants are given to students with annual family income of between thirty and sixty thousand dollars. The grants cover a maximum of 18 semesters.

While recipients of the Pell do not have to pay back this money, students who take out loans will have to repay them eventually. This latest move by the government may help those who return to school to complete their degrees at a later date, perhaps after having a family. Giving such individuals a longer payment period may make budgeting and adjustments easier.

Other college grants, like single mothers grants, may help out those who are the sole provider for their children, which could make it easier for them to pay for school and subsequently avoid taking out loans. This assistance may come in the form of cash benefits, food coupons, low interest loans or grants.

To further assist graduate students who are paying back loans, anticipating that they may also have families, the Obama administration’s new plan means these payments will not be more than 10 percent of their income, BusinessWeek reports. President Obama says making college affordable to every American is the best investment we can make in the country’s future.

This is welcome news for adult learners or those who may have been concerned about paying for higher education, especially since the cost of college continues to increase. According to the College Board, students can expect to pay an average of $172 just over one thousand dollars more this year for tuition than last year.

Many people who have been considering going to college are now thinking that maybe college is not the best option. Why? There is no evidence, after all, that college does not help people achieve their long term goals. As a matter of fact, all studies seem to point in the opposite direction. Those with college educations are actually making more money than ever before and are quickly filling up leadership and executive positions. Those with college educations are happier with their jobs and experience more freedom. If this is true, then why would not more people want to go to college? The answer is that they do not have the money and they are afraid to take out loans. With this being the case, it seems clear that the problem is that many people do not know how to apply for a federal Pell Grant.

If you do not apply for a federal Pell Grant, then you are depending on one of two things. You are either saving your own money, or you are taking out loans. Let us look at these two options. Often these costs will not include the prices of books and housing. You will have to work years and years just to begin to educate yourself. If you look at the second option, which is to take out loans, you will see very quickly that this is a bad idea. By the time you have a job that will allow you to pay off your loans, your interest will have accumulated to such an extent that you will spend years just paying off the interest without even touching the loan itself.

What’s so different about a federal Pell Grant? First, you normally will not have to pay back this grant. As a matter of fact, this grant was developed and is funded specifically for people who are having trouble paying for school. You do not have to feel that you are taking advantage of the government when you use this money. This is actually your money. This is taxpayer money that is set aside to help people like you get the education they deserve.

Knowledge is power and knowing where to look makes all the difference in the world. So lets look at the three biggest sources of college money.

First place to look is the Federal Government. President Obama has recently pledged to increase the amount of grant money that you can get for school. Grants For Single Parents

Posted by admin on January 30, 2011 at 10:30 pm in Home And Family

Finding government funds for single parents can sometimes prove to be an onerous task.

The proliferation of single parents is on the increase around the world. Raising a child or children alone often proves to be a difficult job. This is the reason that being a single parent involves taking on a lot more responsibility and takes a special person to be able to make do. The personality of the successful lone parent will often be courageous and stubborn. These qualities will be needed and tested in the process of seeking to better your child’s life. One must have the courage to ask for assistance despite pride and the stubbornness to persist until that better life is realized.

Financial aid is provided by the government to any parent who can prove that they need the assistance in order to raise their child. The reason there are government grants for sole guardians is that the law accepts that raising a child without a 2nd income can be an extremely difficult proposition. In order to help out the guardian, grants are sometimes provided to help ease the pressures that are faced financially. This is not as much a charity as an acceptance that two incomes are often required to maintain a healthy lifestyle for children.

Government funding is accessible to the general public, especially needy single parents. To begin the process of applying for aid, he or she needs to obtain the forms from City Hall. The forms should be candidly and clearly completed because the information will need to be verified and will form the basis for the decision. Remember, you’re dealing with the government, so all t’s must be crossed and all i’s must be dotted. Be advised that while financial aid is available and open to every person in the land, qualifications do exist and are set to protect the funds from fraud.

Note that financial assistance will not be given to those whose salaries are large and more than enough to comfortably and even luxuriously support the child or children. The government alone decides what constitutes “need”. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that things being difficult automatically makes your case for such need.

Remember, the pool of funds is finite.

While Government aid may be offered to the single parent, it is important to maintain your priorities. The parent must always understand that any grant provided will help out on the budget front, but the most crucial part of raising a child is the emotional support. The ability to care for your child through all the hard knocks and issues in their lives will ALWAYS be more important than the latest pair of Nike’s.
